About Enterprise Glossary
Introduction
The Enterprise Glossary is a web-based platform for maintaining and displaying all key enterprise metrics and reports.
Use cases:
Bundle knowledge centrally and make it accessible
Easily document and present key figures, reports and dshboards
Resolve formulas for better understanding of key figures, including Driver Trees
Track Data Lineage and Data Origin
Quick access to further information on reports by end Users
Easy collaboration in the implementation of technical requirements
Creation of a clear and company-wide terminology
Monitoring of existing key figures, reports and BI applications
Components and Functions:
User-defined Entities
Via User-defined Entities, all components of Business Intelligence can be mapped and made accessible in an understandable way. The Entities can, for example, contain definitions of key figures, reports and applications and be made available to the end User to answer all questions. Technical and business backgrounds and special features can thus be made transparent.
Fields and Templates
The structure and level of detail of the Entities can be defined via Fields and Templates, so that the Entities display the desired scope and the information that is required. The Entities thus become standardized and correspondingly easy to read.
Versioning
Changes to an Entity result in a new version of the Entity, while old versions remain viewable. Together with the optional commenting, changes become permanently traceable and trust in the displayed information is strengthened.
Connectors
Technical metadata from supported systems can be read out automatically and kept up-to-date. The technical definitions, as well as the usage, can be easily viewed. This allows end users to see, for example, in which BO reports a certain BW query is used, or how a calculated key figure is composed.
Available Connectors:
SAP Business Warehouse (including BW/4)
SAP Busniess Objects
SAP Analytics Cloud
SAP HANA
SAP S/4
Microsoft Power BI
Discussions and Notifications
The Entities provide a special area for sharing and collaboration. For example, questions can be asked about the information shown. A notification system keeps Users up to date on new, changed or deleted Entities. Users can also be informed about new discussion posts.
Extensive search function
Entities can be found within the application using the advanced search. It is possible to search for information within specific Fields, limit the search to Templates and save search queries.
